About this piece: books for me had mostly been about study, it was not until I spent time on the beach in Goa, India, that I discovered reading books as stories or entertainment. It was a time in my life that I discovered so much about the wider world and my place in it. This piece was made out of marks laid down on raw unstretched canvas, with no preconceived idea as to what would materialise. She is reading a book, but the story is yet to be written. This is her life… an open book.
